The hero, in Greek mythology, is often a demigod, a man (or woman) son of a divinity and a mortal person, endowed with particular powers; in exceptional cases he can also be a common man (like Hector and Ulysses), with a courage decidedly above the norm, capable of standing up to the demigods.
